Mike Ecker is the associate director of the Justice and Safety Institute (JASI). Mike began his public safety career in 1988 with the Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company, leaving in 1991 to become a police officer. Mike has since served as a police officer, including as chief for both the Lykens Borough Police Department and the Halifax Area Regional Police Department. Mike retired from law enforcement in 2014 and started a new career with JASI, assuming his current position in 2016.
Mike holds a master of science in legal studies: law and public policy from California University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Southern California University for Professional Studies. Mike achieved all but dissertation (ABD) status for a Ph.D. in business administration/criminal justice at Northcentral University and is currently engaged in the ABD to Ed.D. conversion process at the American College of Education. Mike’s areas of expertise include crash reconstruction, police leadership, and police firearms instructor training for the pistol, shotgun, and rifle.
