Kai Ereme is a seasoned supervisory federal law enforcement professional with more than 15 years of experience with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), a division of the Department of Homeland Security. Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of critical assignments across domestic and international offices, developing a deep expertise in transnational crime, firearms trafficking, narcotics enforcement, child exploitation investigations, and gang-related criminal networks.
Mr. Ereme began his HSI career in 2012 and has served in several high-impact field offices, including Baltimore , San Ysidro, San Diego, Houston, and Dallas. In these roles, he led investigations targeting narcotics smuggling operations, child exploitation networks, and violent gang activity. He later assumed supervisory roles, including group supervisor of the Gangs and Violent Crimes Group in Dallas, where he coordinated multi-agency task forces and enhanced interagency partnerships.
His international experience includes serving as the assistant attaché in Jamaica, covering both Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. During this assignment, he lived abroad and managed embassy priorities, collaborated with foreign partners, and successfully launched the first-ever Intelligence Fusion Center in the region, enhancing U.S. law enforcement coordination on firearms trafficking and other cross-border crimes.
Mr. Ereme currently serves as section chief at the National Targeting Center (NTC), where he oversees major national initiatives addressing prohibited items and weapons trafficking. His leadership at the NTC has driven innovative enforcement strategies and advanced collaboration between US Federal Law Enforcement and international partners.
In addition to his operational experience, Mr. Ereme is passionate about education and mentorship. He is committed to preparing the next generation of criminal justice professionals by sharing real-world insights and fostering critical thinking in the classroom.
