Richard Laverty

Richard LavertyRichard Laverty retired from the New Jersey State Police in 2020 after 25 years of distinguished service. He culminated his career as the deputy branch commander of the State Police Investigations Branch. While serving in that assignment, he exercised oversight of all investigations performed by the Intelligence and Special Investigations sections, as well as functions of the state’s nationally recognized, accredited forensic laboratories.

Prior to that assignment, Richard served as the director of the Regional Operations & Intelligence Center (ROIC), where he guided the implementation of the nationally recognized New Jersey Drug Monitoring Initiative and the New Jersey Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Cell (NJCCIC). He previously served as a commander in the New Jersey State Police and as an academy instructor, where he developed and delivered organizational leadership courses.

Richard holds a master of the arts in education, supervision administration, and supervision from Seton Hall University, and a bachelor of science in criminal justice from Northeastern University. He also received a certified public manager (CPM) certification from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
