Shanee (sha-nay) Mitchell comes to us with more than 20 years of law enforcement experience. Her experience includes a career with the Philadelphia Police Department, which began in 2001, where she held the ranks of officer, corporal, sergeant, and lieutenant. She rose up the ranks quickly, all while battling stage 3 breast cancer from 2016 until 2020 when she was declared to be in remission. In July of 2022, Shanee decided to spread her wings and left the Philadelphia Police Department to accept the position as chief of police with the Selinsgrove Borough Police Department in Snyder County. Shanee holds a B.S. in criminal justice with a certificate in criminal justice management. She also has an associate degree in accounting and is a certified instructor. A few of her instructor certifications include Mental Health First Aid with the National Council for Mental Wellbeing and VALOR Resilience with the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the University of Pennsylvania. She is also a member of the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association.
Mitchell is married with three children. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, bowling, rollerskating, swimming, and dancing. Her teaching style is very interactive and relaxed in order to allow the class to retain the information better. Shanee has a great sense of humor, learning from her two bouts with cancer to not take anything for granted and to enjoy the little things.
