Course Description
The Criminal Justice Professional Training unit of the Penn State Justice and Safety Institute delivers a Major Incident Management and Response class to prepare officers of the law to respond to these challenging events. The curriculum is developed and delivered by our experienced, professional staff and adjunct instructors. Key topics of the class include:
- risk and threat assessments
- incident management and policies/procedures
- contacts and communication chain
- establishing incident command
- maintaining a perimeter
- gaining access to federal and state resources
- evacuation/lock down/relocation
- responding to the community (families and media)
